La 2 Francs Napoléon III Tête Nue. Cette monnaie de 2 francs Napoléon III a été mise en circulation à la suite du décret du 2 décembre 1852, au début du Second Empire (1852-1870) sous le règne de Napoléon III, avant d’être retirée le 1er octobre 1868, conformément au décret du 17 juin 1868. Elle a été produite à plus de 1,9 million d’exemplaires dans trois ateliers monétaires distincts.

Une version spéciale de cette monnaie, appelée « épreuve », se distingue par sa composition en or au lieu d’argent. Le nombre d’exemplaires frappés reste inconnu, ce qui en fait une pièce extrêmement rare, affichant une cotation de 17 000 € en état SUP (Supérieur).
Une autre version rare est la dernière année de frappe, la pièce de 2 francs 1859, produite uniquement à 894 exemplaires dans l’atelier de Paris. Son prix atteint environ 12 000 € en état SUP.

Avers :
L’avers présente le portrait de Napoléon III sans couronne (tête nue), tourné vers la gauche. L’inscription « NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR » entoure l’effigie, avec le nom du graveur Jean-Jacques Barre sous le cou.
Revers :
Le revers affiche la valeur faciale « 2 FRANCS », entourée d’une couronne de laurier, avec l’année d’émission et la marque d’atelier en bas. L’inscription « EMPIRE FRANÇAIS » est placée en arc de cercle au-dessus de la couronne.
