Gold remonetization

Remonetization of gold is a term which means that gold will once again become the main means of payment in the monetary system. More precisely, it refers to the return of gold to the economic circuit of financial institutions such as central banks. It's a subject that came up a few years ago.

Will gold ever be a currency again?

Over the past decade or so, Central Banks have returned to investing in gold. Indeed, some of them - including Russia and China - are steadily building up their gold reserves.

But in the short term, we won't be able to pay for our everyday consumer goods in Investment Gold coins. In reality, the remonetization of gold is more about transactions between financial institutions.

And yet, it is giving rise to a broader reconsideration of the place of gold among private individuals, who are buying more and more investment gold.
