Definition of Fleur De Coin
In numismatics, Fleur de Coin is a very old term that defines both the quality of a coin - it must be new - and the state of preservation of a coin.state of preservation of a coin - it must be flawless.
Of course, just because FDC is written on the box doesn't mean that the coins inside are Fleur de Coin quality.
On the other hand, it has to be admitted that some coins simply don't require FDC quality for minting reasons. Similarly, in banknote numismatics, some issues that only exist with a pinhole are considered not to exist in new condition.
