Dirham, Currency of the United Arab Emirates
The Emirati dirham has been the local currency of the United Arab Emirates since 1973. The ISO 4217 code used on the currency market is AED, and the currency unit is often symbolized by DH or Dhs. The dirham was introduced in the United Arab Emirates in 1973, replacing the rial of Qatar and Dubai, which had been in circulation in all the Emirates since 1966.
Dubai's currency
Foreign currency can be converted at airport bureaux de change, which charge exorbitant commissions and exchange fees.
Withdrawing money in Dubai in dirham from the many ATMs is possible, and most shops accept payment by credit card in Dubai. But once again, bank charges can be high.
In Dubai, theft is extremely rare, so you have little to fear in this respect.
However, the problem of stolen credit card numbers has been around for a few years now. With a simple scanner, someone passing by can retrieve your bank details and then make online purchases using your CB number.
